Plumed Horse is managed by Tony Borthwick and Ian Bruce. This elegant, warm and inviting restaurant opened its doors to Leith back in 2006 and has been winning major awards and gaining countless accolades ever since.

As a man who has a thorough understanding of, and passion for, all things edible whether it be meat, seafood, poultry or vegetable, Tony takes his time to carefully consider his suppliers and produce and will prefer to buy locally where possible. Armed with only top class ingredients he heads up a talented brigade of chefs. Wondrous inventions result. A respectful nod is given to some of the classics too. Plumed Horse food is focussed on flavour and substance over style. Three things are a must – flavour, temperature and texture.

Both Tony and Ian have an eye for what is right. Just so! Therefore your Plumed Horse dining experience begins with a friendly phone manner and reception. Throughout your evening you will be served by a professional, knowledgeable, caring and not overzealous team. It is fair to point out that the front of house staff have generally been with Plumed Horse long term. As with the staff, the diner will not be hurried through. Please be prepared to be with us for at least two and a half hours. Don't be in a hurry. Settle in. Savour your experience at Plumed Horse.

The interior is chic and clean. Not starchy and intimidating as so often is the case in upmarket dining rooms. Plumed Horse is for you if you enjoy magnificent full flavoured cuisine in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Making your reservation by phone is preferred. Any dietary requirements or any other special preferences can more easily be discussed. 

Please note, we will happily offer a vegetarian option but we do need to know in advance.

Parties above four cannot be accepted online.

Cancellation policy...

Please note that cancellations made for any reason with 48 hours of the booking will be charged at £40.00 per head if we fail to resell your table. Thank you for your understanding.
